103_"One against Four" (80x100 cm, oil on canvas)
"Contrasts" was the task of the annual members exhibition of the Ingelheim Art Association. A picture without contrasts almost does not exist - but which motif uses the theme not only indirectly but has it as a key topic?
The enhancement of the color effect by complementary colors and color contrasts has always fascinated me - best visible with red and green as counterparts. That's how the idea for this apple still life arose. To give the naturally very quiet motif still a surprising touch, I have embedded it in an illusion painting. Mainly through the power of the shadows, the impression arises, only the main motif with the still life is painted and lously pasted on a background. Every painting is ultimately an illusion - and yet it is even more of a compliment for me when the viewer initially succumbs to the illusion.
