112_Duo of whales (30x40 cm, Oil painting)
This time I intended to paint in a kind of nature study drawing style. So I chose to paint on old book pages written in an old german script font. As I used wallpaper paste to fix wrapping paper and on top of this the book pages my painting base showed new properties. Luckily it turned out to work well to paint with thinned oil color on it without leaking oil at the borders.
By diluting the color with baby oil it was also possible to get a transparent look and let the script shine through. For me this fits very well to the nature study drawing style I was after.

Bei diesem Bild habe ich mich an die Optik von naturkundlichen Zeichnungen angelehnt. So entstand die Idee, alte Buchseiten - natürlich am besten in altdeutscher Schrift - als Hintergrund auszuwählen. Der neue Malgrund war schnell durch das Aufkleben von Packpapier gefolgt von den Buchseiten geschaffen. Allerdings waren die Eigenschaften jetzt durch den verwendeten Tapetenkleister ganz anders als gewohnt. In diesem Fall ein Glücksgriff, da sich die stark mit Babyöl verdünnte Ölfarbe sehr gut für die transparenten Schichten eignete ohne am Rand auszubluten. So scheint die Schrift stellenweise noch durch die Wale durch und die Luftblasen wirken leicht und lockern die Komposition auf.
